Senior Pastor
Rev. Dr. Scott R. Murray is the senior pastor of Memorial Lutheran Church and School, Houston, Texas. He has served MLC&S since 1996, following pastorates in Cobourg, Ontario, Canada and New Orleans, Louisiana. He loves to teach and share the gospel in small groups and Bible classes. God has blessed him with Maryann, his wife of 23 years, and with two daughters, Anastasia, a freshman at Hillsdale College, and Hilary who attends Lutheran High North. His hobbies are collecting books and recordings of classical music. Pastor Murray holds the degrees of B.A. from Concordia College, Ann Arbor; M.Div. from Concordia Theological Seminary, Fort Wayne; M.A. from Loyola University, New Orleans; and Ph.D from New Orleans Baptist Seminary, New Orleans. He has served the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod on the synod's Commission on Theology and Church Relations (1996-2001) and the Board of Directors of the Lutheran Education Association of Houston (2001-2007). He writes the Memorial Moment, a daily devotion based on the church fathers, which is distributed to an international list of more than 850 subscribers (www.mlchouston.org). Presently, he is the Vice President of the Luther Academy, an editorial associate of LOGIA, and is working on a book on Holy Scripture for the Confessional Lutheran Dogmatics Series. He is the author of numerous journal articles, and Law, Life, and the Living God published by Concordia Publishing House in 2001. |

Associate
Pastor and Headmaster
Rev.
J. Bart Day
has served MLC&S for nine years, after having been ordained
here on June 22, 1997. He especially enjoys working with
youth and young families. Pastor Day and his wife, Julie,
have been blessed with four boys - Jonah, Seth, Caleb and
Jotham. Pastor Day is an avid bird hunter and an accomplished
vocalist and musician. He holds the degrees of B.A. from
Concordia University, Seward, cune.edu,,
NE and M.Div. from Concordia Seminary, csl.edu,
St. Louis, and is currently working toward an MA in Liturgical
Studies from Notre Dame University, nd.edu.
He is the recent editor of two collections of essays
(Festschrift) presented to professors who have influenced
his life and ministry, Teach Me Thy Way, O Lord,
published in honor of The Rev. Dr. Glen Zweck, Tutor of
Westfield Theological House, Cambridge, England, and Lord
Jesus Christ, Will You Not Stay Concordia
Publishing House, published in honor of The Rev.
Dr. Ronald Feuerhahn, professor of Church History at Concordia

Cantor
Janet Muth is the Cantor of Memorial Lutheran
Church & School. "Cantor" is the church's name for a
director of parish music. Janet has served in various Lutheran
congregations, the last of which was St. Paul's Lutheran
Church in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Although she grew up in Anchorage,
Alaska her professional service to the church has been in
the Midwest, primarily in Michigan and Indiana. Miss Muth
holds the degrees of B.Sc. in Music Education and Church
Music from Concordia College, Portland and M.A. in Organ
Performance and Church Music from Indiana University. She
has served The Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod as a member
of the Commission on Worship. In addition to organ, Miss
Muth plays a number of instruments including viola, violin,
and guitar. She is a frequent workshop leader and children's
choir clinician, and also performs as an organ recitalist.
Her hobbies include reading and collecting antiques.

Administrator
Brenda Stancik is the administrator at Memorial Lutheran
Church and has been with Memorial since 1999. Brenda served
at St. Mark Lutheran Church on the Youth Board, participated
with the Agape Company (a drama group) and the First Impressions
Team. In 2001 Brenda was blessed with twin grandsons, Matthew
and Joshua. Her spare time is spent enjoying all of God's
blessings with family time nightly, clowning and kayaking
(a newly discovered sport for her) with her sister, listening
to her daughter sing, and discovering life all over again
with her husband and their twin grandsons.

Secretary
Pat Wagner is the Membership Secretary. Pat has recently joined the staff in the Memorial church office. She looks familiar because she previously worked in Memorial day school for eleven years as the school librarian and two years as the school administrative assistant.
