From the Vicar
His Words
We don't think of Jesus as a circuit preacher, but it's true. Jesus traveled from synagogue to synagogue, gathering crowds with His confident, commanding sermons. Unlike the rabbis, when Jesus preached, miracles happened. His words defeated the devil. His Word conquers because it brings God's Kingdom. However, Jesus doesn't want us focused on the fireworks but on His Words and what they bring. The devil's destruction is icing on the cake. He wants us focused on the preaching of forgiveness of sins. Jesus preaches this message from the pulpits of all faithful Christian congregations. He gives Himself to you through His teaching. His authority builds up our confidence that He suffers and dies to bring us everlasting life. In answer to "Thy kingdom come," Jesus preaches His Kingdom into and among us.
Sunday's Scripture Readings & Hymns
