College Bound
College Bound, preparation for college from a Christian perspective, will take place on 7 August 2016 during the Sunday School hour at MLC in the youth room.  The presentation will be led by Pr. Pacey. The goal of this presentation is to help prepare students spiritually and intellectually for the transition from High School to College/University. This meeting is mainly for incoming High School Seniors, incoming College students (2yr, 4yr, does not matter), and their parents. Please contact Pr. Ian Pacey or Mr. Robert Burmeister for more information.

Synod Convention a Big Success
The 66th regular convention of The Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod was gavel to a close by President Matthew C. Harrison last Thursday. By all accounts, the convention was a resounding success. The delegation passed many good resolutions, including one resolving the problem of licensed lay deacons, a resolution emphasizing the importance of male leadership in the chancels of our churches, and a resolution defending women from conscription into combat units in the United States military. Elections went well. The entire Presidium was returned, although the order of succession was shuffled somewhat; the undersigned was elected to be the second VP of the LCMS. His role does not change. However, he will succeed to be first VP, if either the president or the first vice president of the LCMS are incapacitated. He is certainly praying for their health and safety. God is good.

Sunday's Scripture Readings & Hymns
Genesis 18:20-33
If you have small children (and even if you don't), you can learn the hymns we will be singing in preparation for Sunday. My daughter, Hilary, noticed small children singing hymns from memory in the church she attends in St. Louis and concluded that families were teaching the hymns to them so they could sing them, although they could not read. "Blessed are those who dwell in your house, ever singing your praise" (Ps 84:4)!

Hymns: LSB 668, 766, 628, 779, 777
