From the Pastor
Christian Education of
Our Youth

At MLC, there are two groups tasked with establishing and sustaining the ongoing Christian education of our youth.  The first of these groups is the Youth Board.  YB is responsible for all of the youth related activities which take place throughout the year.  YB also has the goals of organizing and then raising the funds necessary to send young people to conferences like Higher Things or to places like Nicaragua with our mission team.  The second group is the Parish Education Board.  PEB is responsible for the recruiting of Sunday school teachers, the management of our year round curriculum, the conducting of our Christmas program and the like.  There are very few places that dedicate so much effort to the education of their youth in the Christian Faith.  Memorial Lutheran Church is a place where this effort takes place.  For those who participate in the activities of the Youth Board and/or the Parish Education Board, we thank God for you!  Your service is truly a blessing.

Delicious Texas BBQ will be provided. Please bring a side or dessert to share with your fellow members and guests. Sign-up Online or visit the table in the Commons between services on 9 and 16 August to sign-up. You may drop it off in the church kitchen on Sunday before or after the services.

We are also looking for a few good Lutherans to help with clean-up afterward. If you can help, contact Bryan Janhsen (our Fellowship Chairman) or call the church office and speak to Wayne or Tessa at 713 782 6079. Remember many hands make for light work! We need your help!

Let Us Pray
For the family and friends of Carol Coolidge who has been called to her heavenly home.

For Luke George, who is going through therapy for Leukemia
For Paul Lodholz, asking for strength as he recovers

For Walter Friend as he continues treatment

As many of you can hear... or not hear, our Sanctuary sound system is in need of an upgrade after 10+ years of service. We are looking to replace the amplifier and several of the speakers. This will not only help within the Sanctuary with the sound cutting in and out but also with the volumes in the Narthex, Choir Loft and leave us with options for growth in the future. We hope to get this all ordered as soon as possible as our amplifier is on borrowed time and the order and installation will take several weeks. Our goal is to raise as much of the $7,000 as possible. If you can help us reach this goal, please write your checks to MLC and write "sound system" in the memo line. If you have any questions, please contact the church office at 713 782 6079.
