Thanksgiving Service at MLS will be held Thursday 28 November, at 9:00 AM.
Join us to thank the Lord for our blessings.
After the service, please consider joining us as we serve the less fortunate in our community at our annual Thanksgiving meal. We welcome any and all volunteers as more hands make light work.
"Oh give thanks to the Lord, for he is good,
for his steadfast love endures for ever!" Psalm 107
Dwelling with God
"Truly, I say to you, today you will be with me in Paradise." (Lk 23:43). Jesus absolves the penitent criminal with these words. This absolution shows the nature of Christ's crucifixion: forgiveness of sins and a welcome into Paradise. Due to the fall into sin, humanity was thrown out of the presence of God and out of Paradise. Through Jesus' death, our Lord has opened the gates of heaven to all believers. The criminal received a great promise: "you will be with me." Through Jesus overcoming the sharpness of death, we are now able to dwell with God. What greater thing can we be thankful for?
Chester and Glenda Hermes were members of Memorial Lutheran Church many years ago when Pastor Oesch was the senior pastor. The Hermes say it feels wonderful to be back at this beautiful, warm and welcoming House of Worship. Both Glenda and Chester are retired now, he a mechanical engineer with Chevron Texaco and she an Operating Room Registered Nurse.
The Hermes have enjoyed traveling in recent years, but find that nothing beats visiting their daughter, Johanna, in Denver and hanging out with their son, Derek, and his family here in Houston. This year they were blessed with their first grandchild.
Chester and Glenda look forward to many years at MLC as they feel this is truly is the perfect church for their family. Welcome!
We want to thank the members of Memorial for their great response in providing the essentials for our Thanksgiving Day dinner.
We are still in need of the following items:
Pies & Cakes Green Beans

We also need volunteers for set up, serving and clean up.
Donations can be dropped off in the kitchen next to the Fellowship Hall on Wednesday 27 November, 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM and on Thursday morning before 9:00 AM. If you wish to volunteer, make a donation or want more information, please contact Wayne or Arlene Murray at 281 240 9644 or by email at email@example.com.
