Cantor/Music and Choir Director
Janet Muth is the Cantor of Memorial Lutheran Church & School. “Cantor” is the church’s name for a director of parish music. She was raised in Anchorage, Alaska. Prior to serving in Texas, her professional service to the church has been in the Midwest, primarily in Michigan and Indiana. Cantor Muth holds the degrees of Bachelor of Science in Music Education and Church Music from Concordia College, Portland and Master of Music in Organ Performance and Church Music from Indiana University. She has served The Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod as a member of the Commission on Worship and on the Hymnody Committee for the Lutheran Service Book. In addition to organ, Cantor Muth plays a number of other instruments including viola, violin, and guitar. She also has served the church as a workshop leader and children’s choir clinician and performs as an organ recitalist. She also serves the church as organist, adult and children's choir director and handbell director.
