About Worship

LSBAt Memorial we believe that Christians worship to receive from God the blessings He desires to give us. So worship is more about what God is giving to us than what we are giving to God. For millenia the Church has followed a set pattern of worship to enphasize God's gift of the forgiveness of sins in Jesus Christ. At Memorial we continue to honor that good and God-pleasing pattern. In worship we confess our need for forgiveness to God, and hear Him proclaim that we are forgiven for Jesus' sake. We hear God's Word read from the Old Testament, the New Testament, and most importantly from the Gospels. Our pastors preach God's condemnation of sin and the gift of His grace in Christ. The Lord's Supper, Jesus' last will and testament to His people, is offered at every Sunday service. All members in good standing of our congregation or a sister congregation are invited to receive Holy Communion when visiting our church.

We use the Lutheran Service Book (LSB) as our hymnal, and alternate between Divine Services I, II and III for our Sunday morning liturgies. Our weekday services make use of the LSB's Matins, Vespers, Morning Prayer and Evening Prayer liturgies. The church's music is led by our Cantor Janet Muth, who plays our pipe organ, and conducts and accompanies the adult and children's choirs, handbells, brass, strings and woodwinds.
