Spanish is not only an exciting language to learn and speak, after all it is one of the romance languages, but it has become more and more necessary in the United States, especially in the Houston area.

This year the Pre-Kindergarten children will learn some basic greetings in Spanish, their age, the names of some animals, basic colors, numbers from 1-5, shapes, big and small, same and opposite, and the Spanish alphabet.

Students in Kindergarten will learn to count to 12, colors, classroom objects, big and small, days of the week, the seasons, same and opposite, and the Spanish alphabet.

The Spanish curriculum for 1st grade will cover greetings in Spanish, colors, numbers, polite words, foods, clothing, family members, classroom objects and about their community.

Second graders will learn greetings in Spanish, basic expressions, the use of tu and usted, days of the week, family members, the body, adjectives and verbs. They will also be saying their pronouns in Spanish by the end of the year.

Fifth graders will cover months and dates, numbers to 100, gender and plurals, definite and indefinite articles, possessive adjectives, antonyms, telling time, sports, verbs ending in -er, -ir, and -ar. They will also learn about the two most common irregular verbs in the Spanish language, ser and estar.

Grades 6th through 8th will cover family relationships, how to talk about your family, how to describe your home, how to discuss what you are going to do, how to talk about what belongs to you and others and the verb tener, tener que, ir a, and possessive adjectives.
