Every day in Pre-Kindergarten we share the great
truths of God's Word and learn about our salvation through His
Son, Jesus Christ. God's love is shared with each child through
participation in class Bible study and Chapel. We learn many wonderful
Bible stories along with the Ten Commandments, Lord's Prayer,
Apostle's Creed, Baptism, and the Lord's Supper.
We also grow and learn through Language Arts.
This is an essential part of the Pre-Kindergarten day where we
learn many pre-reading skills that will build on your child's
foundation to help with reading later in the year. In addition
to reading we focus on concepts in rhyming, counting, listening
skills, phonics, handwriting, and journaling.
Math is another subject that is important. The curriculum that
is used is hands-on. This gives the student confidence in what
is learned. Some of the many concepts students learn about are
counting, writing numbers, shapes, graphing, money, tangrams,
creating designs, telling time, and patterns.
We also learn about our world through early Geography
skills. We begin by learning about what a map is and how it can
help you. We go all the way through to learning about all of the
seven continents and what is unique about each one.
Science is a fun part of the Pre-Kindergarten
day. We learn to experiment with many great things about our world.
Some of the great subjects we learn about are balancing, magnets,
nutrition, leaves, our bodies (muscles, heart, etc.), weather,
and seasons.
A fun part of the day is center time. This is a free time where
the Pre-Kindergartener can express himself/herself through art,
games, puzzles, building blocks, manipulatives, reading, and drama.
The other half of this is that the Kindergartener is able to be
expressive socially, emotionally, and physically.
The specials programs that are offered in Pre-Kindergarten
are Music, P.E., Art, Library, and Spanish.
