There are so many interesting things that go
on in 4th grade. For instance, you will be happy to know you will
have an art class once a week for an hour!
You will also be learning Latin. Latin is a wonderful
language because it is the basis of many other languages, including
English and Spanish. That means it can help you with your vocabulary
and grammar.
One of my favorite subjects is history because
we get to study the Middle Ages. What happened during the Middle
Ages? Barbarians and Vikings ravaged Europe, knights fought battles
called Crusades to gain back the Holy Land, kings controlled popes
and then popes controlled kings, Marco Polo went on a grand expedition
to Asia, an emphasis on learning occurred during the Renaissance,
and Martin Luther began the Reformation. If you do not know what
these events are, you will by the end of the year.
Another one of my favorite subjects is reading.
I love to read because it takes me places I would not normally
be able to go. This year we will visit the land of Narnia, journey
with a young boy named Robin who lived during the Middle Ages,
help a Jewish girl escape from Nazi control, and study fairy tales.
Come to think of it, I love religion, science,
math, English, and geography just as much as reading and history.
Don't worry, I'm not going to tell you about them all right now!
I just wanted to give you a taste of what is to come in your 4th
grade year.
I am so excited that God has given me the opportunity
to teach children about His world and His Word. I hope I have
the opportunity to teach and get to know you in this coming school
year.
